Fast-growing evergreen tree with an upright growth-habit to 40′ tall x 20′ wide. This tough, low-maintenance, drought-tolerant species forms a slightly-pyramidal to rounded crown of narrow, medium-green leaves accented with creamy-white, powder-puff-like flowers that appear near the branch tips late-winter into spring. Flowers are followed by interesting, curly, light-brown seed pods. The roots of this species can be invasive, which should be considered when choosing a planting location. Highly adaptable, growing from the low deserts to coastal ranges, this durable species is well-suited for open areas that can accommodate its generous growth. While able to withstand periods of drought, a more robust-growing specimen is achieved with moderate watering. Thrives in a full sun exposure.
