Fast-growing evergreen shrub to 5-6’ tall and wide, or greater with age. Featuring larger-growing leaves and flowers than most Cape Mallow’s, this vigorous variety features deeply-lobed, fuzzy deep-green foliage that makes a wonderful background to its small, hibiscus-like pink flowers that appear in profusion throughout the summer months, or nearly year-round in mild climates. This selection is free blooming and is sure to attract bees and hummingbirds. Makes a great backdrop to low-growing perennials in the garden and can be pruned to form a small patio tree. Also makes a great container plant. This species is fairly heat tolerant and has light to moderate water needs, though caution should be used to assure that the soil is allowed to dry between watering. Requires a well-drained soil and prefers a full sun to partial shade exposure, with some protection from hot afternoon sun in hotter inland or low desert areas.
