Choisya ternata (Mexican orange mock orange) is a small compact growing evergreen broadleaf shrub that gets to 6-8 ft high with a 6-8 ft spread. The leaves are opposite and compound each about 2-3 in long. When bruised the leaves give off a strong and pungent odor. The white flowers are about 1 in across and are very fragrant. They stand in clusters above the rich green foliage. Mexican orange is very showy in bloom. Its blooming period lasts several weeks from early spring to summer.
