Fast-growing deciduous shrub with a spreading growth-habit to 2-3’ tall x 6-8’ wide. This low-growing species features arching, herringbone-like branches of densely-set, tiny, dark-green leaves accented with small pinkish-white flowers that appear in spring. Flowers are followed by colorful bright-red berries that standout wonderfully against its deeply-colored foliage. These berries ripen fall into winter, and provide a good food source for various species of birds. Adding further appeal to this popular variety is the lovely orange and red foliage coloration that appears in the cool of fall. Well-suited for rock gardens, slopes or hillsides, or as a quick-covering groundcover for larger areas. Tolerates coastal conditions and a variety of different soil types (provided they’re well-drained) and requires little water once fully established. Thrives in a partial to full sun exposure.
