Plant Type

Shrub

Moderate-growing evergreen shrub to 3-4’ tall and wide. Best-suited to cooler climates, this attractive variety forms a uniformly-rounded mound of glossy, leathery, deep-green leaves with narrow yellow margins. While its variegated foliage is attractive in its own right, this variety is most greatly-prized for its dense clusters of rosy-pink flower buds that open to heavily-scented, star-shaped white flowers appearing in winter and early-spring. A truly unique fragrance unlike any other. A fast-draining, evenly-moist, neutral PH soil is essential for this species to prosper. Too much summer watering in warmer climates will lead to a weak, less-floriferous specimen. Well-suited in mixed borders, as an accent, foundation or patio container specimen. Great for planting near windows or patios where its intoxicating fragrance can be enjoyed. Prefers a partial sun to light shade exposure, avoiding areas that receive hot afternoon sun. Deer resistant.
