Forsythia intermedia ‘Lynwood Gold’ sometimes known as Lynwood Gold Forsythia produces abundant yellow flowers and a nice burst of color to late winter/ early spring landscapes. The bright flowers are followed by a handsome display of dark green foliage. Lynwood Gold’s branches are sometimes picked in midwinter and forced to bloom indoors making this one of the earliest of the “cut” flowers.Forsythia when given enough room to grow without pruning takes on a graceful appearance. Versatile they are used as hedges informal shrub borders and taller varieties can be trained to grow on a trellis or espalier. They seem to tolerate poor growing conditions and thrive in Zones 5 – 8 and in almost any type of soil. The leaves are about 2- 2 1/2″ long and serrated at the edges. Forsythia is a fast grower and during the spring the branches almost have the appearance of yellow wands. Loves full sun and adequate moisture.
