This compact gardenia produces a profusion of fragrant blooms that make excellent cut flowers. Gardenias are often planted where their scent can be enjoyed. ‘Veitchii’ makes an excellent evergreen accent or container plant. ‘Veitchii’ makes for an excellent hedge or corner foundation flowering plant. It is important not to let the soil become dry. The plant will respond by dropping leaves and buds. All gardenias require moist acid soil and should be planted high like you would an azalea.
