Gazanias are grown for the brilliant color of their flowers which appear in late spring and early summer. They prefer full sun and are tolerant of dry periods and poor soils. A popular variety is trailing gazania commonly used as a groundcover. Gazanias can be planted to cover large areas or embankments. Their growth rate is fast. Another popular variety is clumping gazania which has a number of cultivars specifically named such as ‘Aztec’ ‘Burgundy’ ‘Copper King’ ‘Fiesta Red’ ‘Goldrush’ and ‘Moonglow’.
