Plant Type

Perennial

Moderate-growing, clumping evergreen to semi-evergreen perennial to 14-18” tall x 14-24” wide. This long-lived variety forms a loose spreading mound of leathery deep-green leaves, contrasted with an eye-catching display of profuse, cup-shaped white flowers that appear from late-winter to early-spring, one of the very first perennial flowers to grace the spring landscape. Well-suited in moist woodland gardens, as an attractive understory to deciduous trees, in beds and mixed borders, or as a showy, spring-blooming container specimen. Great for brightening-up shadier parts of the garden. Prefers a rich, evenly-moist soil, though fully established plantings can survive on relatively low amounts of water. Thrives in a full to partial shade exposure. Deer and rabbit resistant. All parts of this plant are considered toxic.

USDA Zone: 4-9
