Slow-growing evergreen shrub or small tree with a rounded growth-habit to 8-10’ tall and wide. This rounded growing variety features lustrous glossy spiny deep-green foliage and is revered for its heavy production of long-lasting bright-red berries that persist fall into winter. Small white flowers that proceed fruiting are mostly inconspicuous but attract bees. This variety does not need a male pollinator to produce fruit. Well-suited as a foundation accent or hedge and can be pruned into an attractive single-trunked tree. Tolerates a variety of soil conditions but thrives in a moist well-drained soil. Moderately-low water needs once established. Full sun to partial shade.
