Magnolia S. Alexandrina is grown as a medium-sized flowering tree or as a large shrub.  It is unmatched for elegant beauty and old-fashioned charm.  Alexandrina  is known for its beautiful and large tulip-shaped blooms that are purplish-pink with white inside.  It makes a great garden specimen plant or tree. Magnolia S. Alexandrina is deciduous.

Alexandrina can be planted as a single specimen in a front yard landscape or can be used as a matched pair planted on either side of an entryway or sidewalk.  This is a darker Magnolia that produces a pronounced color for larger landscapes.  It can stand out even at a distance but is also planted near patios porches and other outdoor living spaces.  It will often be seen planted as a small city street tree growing 20 feet tall and wide.  It is kept smaller when used as a shrub.
