Laurus Saratoga is commonly called the Saratoga Bay Laurel. It is an evergreen shrub or tree that can grow to 20-30 ft tall by 15-25 ft wide. Saratoga has many attributes of the popular laurus nobilis but it is a smaller tree with a more open growth habit and larger more rounded and lighter colored leaves. Laurus Saratoga produces abundant small pale-yellow flowers from late winter through early spring. Saratoga should be planted in full sun to light shade in well-drained soil. Once established Laurus Saratoga needs little to occasional irrigation but more frequent watering will produce faster more luxurious growth. Laurus Saratoga leaves have culinary value as well. Laurus ‘Saratoga’ makes a great dense hedge. It can also be trained to grow as a single-stemmed small tree and used as a large container specimen. The Saratoga Bay Laurel can be trained as a topiary specimen
