Plant Type

Perennial

Moderate-growing deciduous perennial to 2-3’ tall and wide. This tough, heat-loving variety is a member of the Mint family, is more narrow and erect growing than most in its species, and features upright-growing, silver-tinged branches cloaked in aromatic silvery-gray foliage. Prized for its profuse clusters of lavender-blue flowers that appear late-spring through summer, and in such abundance that it seems to create a colorful haze above the attractive foliage. Flowering can continue into fall in mild climates. This low-maintenance species has few known pests, is deer resistant, and tolerates a variety of soil types, provided they’re fast-draining. Drought tolerant once established, this hardy selection is well-suited in beds and borders, as a backdrop to lower-growing perennials, as a mass-planting for larger areas, or as a colorful container specimen. Prefers a full sun exposure.
