Fast-growing deciduous tree with an upright growth-habit, typically reaching 40-60’ tall x 25-30’ wide, or even larger with age and ample water. This popular heat and cold tolerant species forms a large open crown with age, and is admired for its bright-green, triangularly-shaped leaves that flutter in the breeze and turn an attractive golden-yellow in the cool of fall. Female trees produce cottony seed clusters that that can be seen floating in the warm air of summer. This species has a propensity to sucker at the base, with roots that tend to surface with shallow watering. Provide deep regular watering for best results. Well-suited as a shade, park or grove tree for large open areas. Grows in a loam to sandy soil and prefers a full sun exposure.
