Moderate-growing evergreen perennial with an upright rounded growth-habit to 3-4’ tall and wide. This deer-resistant California native features aromatic gray-green foliage borne on red stems contrasted with showy clusters of lightly-fragrant bright violet-blue flowers that rise above the foliage late-spring into summer attracting hummingbirds butterflies and bees. Lightly prune after flowering to promote re-blooming and a more compact growing specimen. Well-suited in woodland gardens as an accent or mass planting or as an attractive backdrop to lower-growing perennials. Drought tolerant but looks best with supplemental summer watering. Tolerates a variety of soil types provided they’re well-drained and prefers a full to partial sun exposure.
