Slow-growing evergreen shrub to 3-5’ tall and wide. This shade-loving species features dense glossy deep-green foliage and is revered for its small but powerfully fragrant frilly white flowers that fill the air with a sweet aroma in early-spring. Adding further appeal are the showy bright-red berries that appear after flowering. Great for planting in shady entryways or as an understory to low-branching evergreen trees. Prefers a rich well-drained soil and a full to partial shade exposure.
