Category:

Moderate growing herbaceous perennial to 2-4′ tall, spreading to roughly the same width via underground runners called rhizomes. Deeply-lobed, grape-leaf-like dark green foliage provides a great background to the abundant, semi-double, yellow-centered, shell-pink flowers that rise above the foliage late-summer through fall, attracting butterflies and bees. Despite its delicate appearance, makes a good cut flower. Tolerates full sun in coastal climates, but should given some protection from hot afternoon sun in warmer inland locations. Well-suited for beds and borders, rock gardens, cottage gardens or woodland settings. Also makes a good container specimen. Prefers regular watering in a well-drained soil, and a full sun to partial shade exposure.
