Dwarf Brush Cherry

Very slow-growing evergreen shrub with a rounded growth-habit. This compact-growing variety is among the smallest of dwarf varieties, and makes a great alternative to Boxwoods or Box-Leaf Euonymus. Its lustrous foliage emerges with an attractive reddish-bronze tint, to eventually mature to rich tones of green. Brush-like, mostly inconspicuous creamy-white flowers appear in spring, followed by rosy-purple-colored berries that attract various of birds, though flowering and fruiting can be inconsistent. Because of its extreme dwarf form, this variety requires little maintenance to retain its compact appearance, and is well-suited as a border, small hedge or container specimen, as well as making an excellent topiary subject. If a formal appearance is desired, shear in winter to prevent the tender new foliage from scorching in warmer temperatures. Thrives in a rich, fertile soil with regular watering and a partial to full sun exposure.
