Category:

Fast-growing evergreen shrub or small tree with an upright growth-habit to 10-12’ tall x 6-8’ wide or  larger with age, reaching 20′. This popular dense-growing species features thick oblong glossy dark-green leaves. Masses of fragrant creamy-white flower panicles appear late-spring to early-summer attracting bees and butterflies followed by clusters of small bluish-black fruit that attract birds. These fruit in quantity are toxic to humans. Responds well to shearing and is ideally suited as a screen hedge or topiary specimen as well as making an attractive small tree. Prefers regular watering in a well-drained soil though well-established plants can survive on less frequent watering. Sun to light shade.
