Plant Type

Tree

Moderate-growing evergreen shrub or small tree with an upright, pyramidal to rounded growth habit to 20′ tall and wide. This tough, low-maintenance, thornless species forms a moderately-dense canopy of attractive, narrow, grayish-green foliage accented with a profusion of caterpillar-shaped, powder-puff-like bright-yellow flowers that adorn this durable selection from winter to spring. Well-suited for arid climates where it makes a great yard, patio or courtyard planting, and is a popular choice for planting in multiples to serve as a large privacy hedge or screening. Requires a well-drained soil and little water once established. Thrives in a full sun exposure.
