Succulent perennial with deep red to nearly black fleshy leaves forming a rosette at the branch tips. In spring the stalks will produce a flower stalk blooming in bright yellow in spring or summer. Branches that flower will then die encourage new growth by cutting back branches several inches below the rosette. Growth can reach up to 3′ tall and wide. Prefers partial sun to full sun in cooler climates with low water.
