The scientific name is Hibiscus syriacus and the common name is Rose-of-Sharon. The double flowers are in prominent shades of pink depending on the cultivar. Individual flowers stay open for one day and close at night. Great color with double flowers. Use as specimen or in groups. Prune this and all other althaeas in late winter or early spring.
