Moderate-growing evergreen shrub to 3-4’ tall x 3-5’ wide. This exceptionally cold- hardy hybrid forms a rounded-mound of glossy medium-green foliage, accented with masses of showy single reddish-purple flowers appearing mid to late-spring. Adding further appeal is the attractive fall foliage color developing an attractive red-tinge as the weather cools. A light pruning after flowering will help promote a more compact-growing specimen. Well-suited as a foundation planting woodland planting hedge accent border mass planting or container specimen. Prefers regular watering in a rich moist well-drained acidic soil and a partial sun to light shade exposure.
