Moderate-growing evergreen shrub to 3′ tall x 4-5′ wide. This low-maintenance, heat and drought tolerant Southwestern US native is highly useful for hot, arid environments and forms a dense spreading mound of narrow, bright-green foliage. Inconspicuous creamy-white flowers appear in spring, and are followed by tan-colored seed pods. This durable evergreen is well-suited as an accent or background, and is especially useful as a soil-erosion-controlling groundcover for slopes and hillsides. A light pruning in winter will help promote a more compact-growing specimen. Resists root rot and requires little water once established. Prefers a fast-draining soil, and thrives in a full sun exposure.
USDA Zone: 8-10
