Moderate to fast-growing deciduous to semi-evergreen tree to 20-40’ tall x 15-30’ wide. This popular species forms an open-branched crown of fern-like bright-green foliage and is revered for its spectacular display of showy abundant tubular lavender-blue flowers that appear in spring. Due to the prolific blooming nature of this species the spent flower drop can be considerable which is to be considered when choosing a planting location. Following flowering appear clusters of round flattened green seed pods that mature to brown by late-summer to fall. Best-suited for milder climates this species makes a great street park lawn or open area specimen. Prefers a fast-draining soil and requires little water once established. Thrives in a full sun exposure.
