Plant Type

Shrub

Moderate to fast-growing evergreen shrub to 6′ tall x 6′ wide. This tough desert-hardy species forms an airy rounded-mound of bright-green needle-like foliage accented with a profusion of eye-catching buttercup-like bright-yellow flowers appearing late-winter to early-spring. Flowers are followed by flat rusty-brown seed pods that can persist on the plant for several months. Some find the pods attractive while others do not. This can be remedied with a light pruning after flowering to eliminate the development of these seed pods. Tolerates strong reflected heat and is drought tolerant once established. Great as a warm climate accent or foundation planting. Requires a well-drained soil and a full to partial sun exposure.
