Plant Type

Shrub

Fast-growing evergreen shrub to 6’-8′ tall and 6′-12′ wide, or larger with age. Considered one of the best Ceanothus cultivars available, this tough California native forms a billowing-mound of gracefully-arching branches clad with dense-growing, glossy dark-green leaves. This attractive foliage is accented with profuse clusters of deep-cobalt-blue flowers that create an eye-catching display in spring. Well-suited as an accent, background, slope planting, hedge or screen. Though drought tolerant once established, this variety can handle summer watering better than many Ceanothus varieties. Thrives in a well-drained soil in a full sun exposure. Tolerates alkaline soil.

USDA Zone: 9A-10B
