Plant Type

Shrub

Fast-growing evergreen shrub typically growing 6-8’ tall x 8-10’ wide or greater with age. Can be pruned into a small multi-trunked tree. This tough heat-tolerant California native forms a large rounded-mound of dense glossy dark-green foliage. Abundant clusters of medium-blue flowers exhibit white highlights that create an attractive “frosted” appearance to the eye-catching floral display that appears in early-spring. Heat and drought tolerant this variety is well-suited in native gardens and is useful as an accent background hillside planting hedge or screen. Tolerates a wide variety of soil types provided they’re well-drained. Prefers a full to partial sun exposure but can tolerate some shade. Too much shade will cause leggy less floriferous plants.
