Cornus sericea ‘Flaviramea’ or Yellow Twig Dogwood is best grown in organically rich medium to wet soils in full sun to part shade. It is tolerant of a wide range of soils including swampy or boggy conditions. This dogwood is a compact shrub growing to a maximum size of 5-6 feet tall and as wide with a spreading habit. An ornamental feature of this plant is bright yellow winter stems. Tiny white flowers appear in clusters in late spring with sparse intermittent flowering continuing into summer in some areas. Fruit is attractive to birds and is considered to have as much ornamental interest as the flowers. The dark green leaves are 2-4 long and turn an attractive reddish purple in autumn.
