Cotoneaster divaricatus (Spreading Cotoneaster) is a cotoneaster growing as an upright rounded densely branched deciduous shrub. It matures to 5-6’ tall and spreads to 6-8’ wide. It is noted for its attractive form glossy green leaves dark-red autumn fruit and autumn foliage colors. The branches of Cotoneaster divaricatus extend to the ground with the outer branches arching slightly downward. It produces small white flowers with tinges of pink bloom in the spring. The flowers are valued more for their abundance than size. The flowers are then followed by bright red fruits that mature in the fall and carry to the onset of winter. Ovate dark green leaves turn attractive shades of orange and red in fall.
