Cuphea hyssopifolia is also called False Mexican Heather. It is a small tropical evergreen shrub with compact form and very fine textured foliage. It grows to a maximum height of about 24 inches. Cuphea hyssopifolia grows to form flat topped mounds 18-36 inches in diameter. The plant’s flat feathery sprays of foliage are 12-18 inches long and are highly branched. The small leaves resemble Scotch heather and are about 3/4 to 1 inch long and 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. The leaves are arranged alternately on the length of the stems giving it a fern-like appearance.
