Cytisus praecox ‘Allgold’ bears masses of bright yellow fragrant flowers on a spreading plant. It is slower growing and more compact than other Cytisus species. Allgold is sometimes also called ‘Canary Bird’ or Gold Broom. It flourishes in moderately fertile well drained soils. Allgold grows best in full sun. A dry south-facing bed would be ideal. For best results prune or dead head after flowering. Be careful to avoid old wood and just prune sparingly to shape it.
