Plant Type

Vine

Moderate to moderately-fast-growing shrubby evergreen vine with stems to 15’ long if given support.  Best-suited for warmer climates, this Mandevilla hybrid has a more controlled, shrubby growth habit than most of its larger-leafed cousins, and can easily be maintained to a small size by pinching back any twining stems as they begin to appear.  Glossy, oval-shaped leaves emerge with an attractive bronzy-tinge to eventually mature to deep-green, and are accented with showy, trumpet-shaped, yellow-throated scarlet-red flowers that appear throughout summer, attracting butterflies and bees. Great for trellises or arbors, as an accent in beds, borders or planters, or as a colorful container or hanging basket specimen. Thrives in a rich, well-drained, evenly-moist soil, and prefers a partial sun to light-shade exposure.
