Elaeocarpus decipiens often called a Japanese Blueberry Tree makes an excellent street tree. It is evergreen and also suitable for lawn or park tree planting. It displays glossy green foliage. The older leaves present an ornamental effect and then they turn bright red before dropping. Elaeocarpus decipiens produces blue-black olive-like fruit in winter. The fruit will not stain decks. It grows moderately fast to 30 to 40 ft. tall and 15 to 30 ft. wide.
