Moderate-growing evergreen shrub with a rounded to upright growth-habit to 15-20′ tall x 8-10′ wide. This attractive variety features lustrous, dense-growing foliage that emerges with a showy reddish-bronze tint, which it holds over a long season, to eventually mature to rich tones of green. Adding further appeal to this popular variety are the frilly, lightly-fragrant, creamy-white flowers that appear spring to early-summer, followed by showy, rosy-purple fruit that are a favorite for birds, and can be used to produce jellies or jams. Takes well to shearing (which should be done in winter) and is well-suited as a hedge, privacy-screening or container specimen, as well as making an excellent topiary subject. Tolerates a variety of different soil types, but thrives in a rich, fertile, well-drained soil with regular watering and a partial to full sun exposure.
