Gardenia jasminoides ‘August Beauty’ produces 2”-3 double white fragrant blooms. ‘August Beauty’ blooms are borne for an exceptionally long period. ‘August Beauty’ is considered to be a hardy evergreen shrub with rich deep green foliage on a densely growing plant. Sometimes they are still commonly referred to as Cape Jasmine in many southern gardens. No matter the fragrance is unforgettable.Gardenias perform best in fertile well-drained humus rich acidic soil with average moisture. They seem to do best in hot southern regions where they get some midday or afternoon shade but need good light for the best flower production. Pruning should take place after flowering.
