Crimson Butterflies Gaura is an herbaceous perennial that grows in a loose bushy clump 1-1.5 feet tall with a spread of 1.5-2 feet . It has slender wiry stems covered with tiny hairs. The leaves are spoon shaped 1-3” long with toothed margins. The flowers are produced above the foliage on erect spikes up to 20+”. They continue to elongate throughout the extended blooming period of late spring until first frost. The individual flowers are about an inch across and have four reflexed petals. They tend to be one color when they open at dawn fading to a different color by the end of the day. Only a few flowers are open at any one time and each drops off after blooming leaving a clean neat stalk.

Crimson Butterflies Gaura produces dark-crimson leaves and short red stems that hold hot-pink flowers just above the foliage. Crimson Butterflies Gaura tolerates high humidity and is adaptable to many soil types. It is resistant to drought but, looks better when watered regularly. Blooms from late Spring to early Fall.
