Plant Type

Perennial

Moderate-growing, clumping evergreen perennial to 12” tall x 12-24” wide. This vigorous-growing, long-lived variety forms a loose spreading mound of leathery, glossy green leaves, accented with an eye-catching display of profuse deep-pink flower buds that open to showy, creamy-white blooms that blush with rose and chartreuse as they mature. These distinctly upward-facing flowers appear in abundance in early-spring – one of the very first perennial flowers to grace the spring landscape. Well-suited in moist woodland gardens, as an attractive understory to deciduous trees, in beds and mixed borders, or as a showy, spring-blooming container specimen. Great for brightening-up shadier parts of the garden. Prefers a rich, evenly-moist soil, though fully established plantings can survive on relatively low amounts of water. Thrives in a full to partial shade exposure. Deer and rabbit resistant. All parts of this plant are considered toxic.

USDA Zone: 4-9
