Moderately fast-growing evergreen shrub with a mounding growth habit to 6-8′ tall and wide. Best-suited to arid climates, this sturdy Southwestern native features attractive, rounded silvery-gray foliage contrasted with masses of showy, lightly-fragrant purplish-pink flowers appearing summer through fall, attracting hummingbirds, butterflies and bees. Well-suited as an accent, foundation planting, in mixed shrub borders or as a colorful hedge or screen. Tolerates heat, reflected heat, drought, wind, salt and smog, and takes well to shearing, though this will decrease flower production. A fast-draining soil is essential for the success of this species, and though able to withstand periods of drought, supplemental summer watering will help promote a more vigorous, stronger blooming specimen. Thrives in a full to partial sun exposure. Deer resistant.
