Category:

Moderate-growing deciduous tree to 40-60’ tall x 20-25’ wide. Conical in youth this long-lived variety eventually develops an evenly branched pyramidal shape and features attractive maple-like bright green leaves that turn a vivid deep-burgundy color in the fall even in mild climates. Inconspicuous chartreuse-colored spring flowers are followed by 1-1 ½” round spiky seed pods that persist through fall which should be considered when choosing a planting location. This attractive variety tolerates a variety of soil types is resistant to Oak Root Fungus and is well-suited as a shade lawn park or street tree. Requires little water once established though a more robust-looking specimen is achieved with regular watering. Prefers a full sun exposure in a well-drained soil.
