Fast-growing evergreen vine with a vigorous spreading growth habit. Stems on this variety can reach 12-15’ long or more. Attractive purple-tinged foliage is highlighted with abundant clusters of strongly fragrant white-centered purplish-red flowers that are irresistible to hummingbirds butterflies and bees. Blooming begins in spring peaking in summer with sporadic blooming continuing through late summer and is followed by small bluish-black colored berries that attract birds. While this attractive variety is great for growing on trellises or arbors and is well suited for containers as well it’s most popular use is as a sprawling groundcover that can help control erosion on slopes and hillsides. Tolerates a wide variety of soil types and prefers a regular watering schedule. Full to partial sun.
