Category:

Fast-growing semi-evergreen vine with stems to 20-25’ long or greater with age. This vigorous heat-loving species climbs rapidly via clinging claw-like tendrils that attach themselves to rough surfaces or wrap around most any support provided. Lush glossy medium to deep-green foliage is accented with abundant clusters of showy trumpet-shaped bright-yellow flowers that appear in spring attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. Flowers are followed by slender bean-like seed pods. Highly adaptable this attractive species will grow in a variety of conditions from mild coastal climates to warm inland valleys and deserts and is well-suited for covering walls fences pillars arbors or trellises or even as an erosion-controlling groundcover where its stems root when coming in contact with moist soil. Best growth and flowering performance will be achieved in warmer climates. Requires little water once established though a more robust looking specimen occurs with regular watering in a well-drained soil. Prefers a full to partial sun exposure.
