Category:

Moderate-growing evergreen tree with a pyramidal growth habit to 50’ tall x 30’ wide. This vigorous-growing, open-branched variety is revered for its especially-robust foliage and flowers. Large, glossy, dark-green leaves provide an excellent background for the enormous 10” wide, fragrant, cup-shaped, creamy-white flowers that appear in early-summer. Flowers are followed by red-seeded, cone-like fruit that emerge light-green to eventually mature to shades of reddish-brown and tan as they mature. Well-suited in large-space landscapes, parks or open spaces. Sometimes planted as a street tree, though its surface-rooting nature should be considered when choosing a planting location. Thrives with moderate watering in a full sun exposure.

USDA Zone: 7-9
