Magnolia Little Gem is commonly called Dwarf Southern Magnolia.  It has smaller dark green-leaf foliage and grows in very compact narrow form. The leaves of the evergreen Little Gem sometimes grown as a large  shrub are rusty-brown on the undersides.  The dwarf characteristics of Little Gem make it useful in small gardens.

Although Little Gem is classified as dwarf if allowed it can reach over 25 feet at maturity.   Little Gem makes a great evergreen screen to block views and increase privacy.  Pretty flowers make it a great accent tree or large shrub for small spaces.
