Forms an upright clump 4-6 foot tall 3-4 foot wide. In spring new leaves emerge bright green banded with yellow horizontal stripes. Blooms coppery plumes on 5-7 foot stems. Best if cut to ground each year. Can withstand temperatures to 10* F hardy to zone 2. Needs heat to thrive and bloom well. Give regular water.
