Moderate-growing evergreen shrub with an upright growth-habit to 5-6’ tall x 2-3’ wide. This popular landscape favorite features cane-like stems reminiscent of bamboo cloaked in pinnately compound delicate-looking foliage emerging with a pinkish-tinge maturing to a medium to deep-green to eventually turn a brilliant purplish-red in fall. Fall color is most pronounced in sunny exposures and is often triggered by cooler temperatures. Attractive foliage is accented with clusters of pinkish-white to creamy-white flowers appearing in spring followed by showy bright-red berries that persist into winter. Well-suited as an accent courtyard or container specimen and is a popular choice for Asian-themed gardens. Tolerates a variety of soils provided they are well-drained. Sun to partial shade.
