Plant Type

Shrub

Moderate to moderately-fast growing evergreen shrub to 3-6’ tall and wide or greater with age. This tough sun-loving dwarf variety exhibits greater cold tolerance than most in its species and features glossy deep-green foliage accented with a profusion of eye-catching single deep-scarlet-red flowers appearing mostly in summer with intermittent bloom throughout the year in mild climates. Well-suited as a background hedge screen median planting or container specimen though all parts of this plant are poisonous which should be considered when selecting a planting location. Requires little water once established though a more robust specimen is achieved with light regular watering. Prefers a well-drained soil and thrives in a full sun exposure.
