Plant Type

Ornamental Grass, Succulent

Fast-growing, clumping evergreen grass to 3-6’ tall x 6-8’ wide. This hardy, heat-loving Southwestern US native grows from underground stems to form a clumping mound of narrow green leaves that exhibit interesting thread-like filaments at their leaf tips. Creamy-white flower panicles appear above or within the arching grass-like foliage in early-summer. Great as an accent, median or mass-planting, and the fibrous root system of this low-maintenance species makes it an ideal choice for stabilizing the soil on banks and hillsides. While able to withstand low water conditions once established, a more robust-looking specimen is achieved with moderate, regular watering. Prefers a well-drained soil and thrives in a full sun exposure.
