Plant Type

Perennial

Fast-growing deciduous perennial with a spreading growth habit to 12″” tall spreading via rhizomes to 2-3′ wide. This long-blooming species forms a rounded-mound of medium to dark-green foliage accented with masses of delicate-looking lightly-fragrant shell-pink flowers that appear late-spring through summer attracting bees. Can be invasive which should be considered when choosing a planting location. Despite its delicate appearance this species is quite tough and quite capable of surviving periods of drought though a more robust specimen is achieved with light regular watering. Well-suited as a groundcover and useful for slopes rock gardens as an edging or for cascading over walls. Also makes a good container specimen. Tolerates a variety of soil types provided they’re fast-draining and thrives in a full to partial sun exposure.
