Plant Type

Perennial, Grass

Moderate-growing, clumping, perennial ornamental grass to 18-30” tall x 18-24” wide. This attractive dwarf-growing warm-season variety forms a clumping mound of narrow, upright, burgundy-tinged green leaves accented with rabbit-tail-like, reddish-colored flower plumes that rise above the attractive foliage spring through summer. Well-suited as an accent or texture contrast to broadleaf shrubs and perennials, and is a great choice for planting in mass for medians or drifts. Prune to 4-6” in early-spring to encourage a strong flush of fresh new spring foliage. Prefers a well-drained soil, and while this variety can survive with light watering once established, a more robust-looking plant is achieved with moderate regular watering.  Thrives in a full to partial sun exposure. Deer resistant.

USDA Zone: 7-11
